WeeklyAlteryxTips#63 Change the order of the macro’s Input/Output anchors

Alteryx

This tips is a tiny tips about macro.

Do you mind the order of the macro’s anchors ?

Who minds the order of the macro’s input/output anchor? Basically, I don’t mind those positions because they will be placed by the order added. However, you may want to place them wherever you like.

To tell the truth, you can change the position as you like. But it might to be a little difficult to find it out.

Let’s see the Interface Designer.

It is like as below as default. This is to modify the UI for Macro or Apps. If you look carefully, there are many items as “Macro Input” or “Macro Output” which are not shown in UI.

It is difficult to identify whatever is which input/output anchors, but they are definitely every macro input/output anchors. For exmaple, supposed to select the upper “macro input”, the setting of that anchor is shown in the Configuration window.

But it is a bit tedious because you have to select to confirm which item is that you want to see the setting.

Anyway, this order is affected the macro’s input/output anchor. When you change this order, the macro’s input/output anchor’s order will be changed. You can change the order by the up/down button at the right side panel.

Let’s change the order. This screen shot is that result. I changed the order from 3 to 1 on the interface designer.

Can you change the position of the Control Parameter on the batch macro?

Answer : No. You can’t change it!

I tried to change it as follows. But I could’t change it.

The result is as follows. The Control Parameter input is always at the top.

Conclusion

  • I have explained how to change the order of the macro’s input/output anchor.
